RELAXRELAXRELAX

by Yuvia Maini

This interactive installation discusses the individual pursuit of "presence" in Western mindfulness culture. Stemming from ancient collective traditions, the work explores what happens when the path to inner peace is commodified. Through real-time EEG data, the participant’s brain waves are translated into live imagery that mirror their "level of relaxation." As visitors attempt to meditate and make their way to “Nirvana”, the piece highlights the paradox of measuring tranquility in an attention-driven economy.

The installation is open for interaction between 18:00 and 19:30 on the 04/10 and between 17:00 and 19:00 on the 12/10. During other times visitors are invited to relax in a prerecorded meditation session of the author's mind.
